Description

Gene and Phillips Kloss divided their time between Taos, New Mexico and Berkeley, California until the call of the southwest proved too strong and their home in Taos became their permanent residence. Gene Kloss' career spanned more than 50 years and she was and still is considered one of the best American etchers.

Kloss' etchings and drypoints of the Southwest, such as "Song of Creation", recorded the ceremonies, dress and traditions of the Pueblo Indians. This print is of the Turtle Dance at the Taos Pueblo, performed at sunrise each New Year.
