Description

Argentinian - American printmaker Mauricio Lasansky studied with S.w. Hayter at Atelier 17 in New York before beginning a long career teaching printmaking at the University of Iowa in Iowa City.

Lasansky was always curious, working and reworking his images, trying new techniques, experimenting wih size, shapes etc. "Young Lady" is a perfect example of this curiosity, a image This image was produced after reworking the plate for "Thomas with Cap", also created in 1968 (Thein/Lasansky 127), which was only done as a proof.

Lasansky printed this image using three color zinc alloy plates, one copper master plate and a variety of printmaking methods to create this strong portrait, which is an artist's proof, outside the published edition of 70.
