Description
”Zan. En Vente Partout” (“Zan. On Sale Everywhere”) is listed as figure 11 in the Gazette Drouart catalogue of late 19th century to early 20th century French advertising posters. It was published in 1895 by G. Bataille, Paris, for Zan black licorice pastilles. Zan was known for incorporating their paddle-shaped licorice hard candies into their advertisements using current events and popular entertainment themes. In this composition, three clown musicians play their respective instruments with two seated on Zan tins and the last enthusiastically playing a pastille vibraphone. Unlike many of the posters Koenigsegg recreated in miniature, the original artist remains anonymous. Christophe Adrien Regley de Keonigsegg began his artistic path after he had retired as a commander in the French Navy. He was particularly fond of recreating the famed posters of the 'Belle Epoch' in miniature, often using single-hair brushes to achieve finer details within formats of under six inches on the long side.
