Description
In medieval Europe, owls were associated with witchcraft but today they are often linked to wisdom and protection. Owl is fukurou in Japanese and because it includes the word fuku [luck] it is linked with good fortune. To many people owls are symbols of magic and heightened senses. The Ainu, an indigenous ethnic group, living in Hokkaido, Japan consider the owl a deity. In modern day Japan owls are lucky charms.
